There are three types of insurance adjusters. Only one of them works for you.
The Three Types of Adjusters
Company adjusters work for the insurance company. Their job is to evaluate your claim on behalf of the carrier. They're not trying to maximize your payout — they're trying to settle the claim for the carrier.
Independent adjusters are hired by insurance companies to handle claims on their behalf. Despite the name "independent," they work for the carrier, not for you.
Public adjusters work exclusively for the policyholder — you. We inspect the damage, write our own estimate, and negotiate with the carrier to get your claim paid fairly. We have a fiduciary duty to act in your best interest.
What Does a Public Adjuster Do?
- Inspect your property and document all damage
- Review your insurance policy to identify all applicable coverage
- Write a detailed estimate using Xactimate (the same software carriers use)
- Submit demands to the carrier with supporting documentation
- Negotiate with the carrier's adjuster on your behalf
- Handle supplements when additional damage is found
- Invoke the appraisal clause if negotiation stalls
How PA Fees Work in Louisiana
Louisiana is unique — it's the only state that prohibits contingency-based fees for public adjusters. That means we charge flat fees or hourly rates, not a percentage of your claim. This is actually better for you: we're not incentivized to drag out your claim or inflate numbers. We want to get it resolved quickly and fairly.
When Should You Hire a Public Adjuster?
As early as possible. The best time is before the carrier's adjuster inspects — but we can help at any stage. Whether your claim is new, underpaid, denied, or stuck in supplement limbo, a PA can help.
